Peter Sprague Trio with Leonard Patton and Tripp Sprague
PeterTrippLeoPromo1BogPeter Sprague’s trio plays music that jumps around jazz, samba, The Beatles, Hendrix, Americana, James Taylor, Stevie Wonder and Bob Marley. They frequently start one song, make up some new sonic material, create some loops and then attempt a safe landing in another aural vista. Freedom is one of the perks of being in a small group! Tripp’s an ace saxophonist who also doubles on flute, chromatic harmonica and percussion. Leonard sings up a storm all the while sitting on a cajon and playing rock solid drum grooves, all at the same time! Peter plays a one of kind double neck guitar and weaves the band through a bebop classic, slows it down to bask in the glow of a folk ballad, and then ignites into a psychedelic version of The Beatles “Lucy’s in the Sky With Diamonds.” It’s an array of contrasting jazz stylings all executed with the spirit of joy in music. They have tons of fun and the vibe is contagious. Listen up!

“As a jazz lover, I have sat front row to see greats such as Joe Pass, Joe Diorio, Anthony Wilson, and Pat Metheny. For those of you who don’t realize this already, Peter Sprague has a place right up there with great jazz guitarists of our time. More than just his instrumental and improvisational prowess, Sprague is a writer-composer of positively world-class abilities. Taking It All In, his latest release, is a wonderful and inspiring snapshot of the essence of Peter Sprague, the composer, musician, and human being.” – Craig Yerkes, San Diego Troubadour
