The La Jolla Theatre Ensemble
Enjoy a staged reading of the 1970’s classic play “That Championship Season.” Jason Miller’s gripping portrayal of a basketball team’s reunion readerstheaterdecades after its season of glory asks, “How far will one go to win?” For both the players and their coach, this question is not only relevant to sports but to the arenas of business and politics; one player is now a mayor up for re-election, another is his campaign manager, and a third has the financial means to influence the race… When loyalty is challenged, can the camaraderie and accomplishments of the past triumph? Kicking off the action as a “curtain-raiser” will be La Jolla playwright Mark Sickman’s short play “Lillian” – about a Little League baseball team facing a late-season quandary.  Please join us for our spring foray into the worlds of sports, politics, and the accompanying relationships which shape them.
