Special Events November ’16
Confused about the Propositions and County Measures on the Ballot?
Randall Christison, attorney and author, will discuss the 17 statewide propositions and eleven city and county measures on the November ballot. For each ballot proposal, he will describe the background and current law, what the proposition proposes, the currently identified consequences, and list those endorsing and those contributing to the campaign. Because his goal is education and not advocacy, he will make no recommendations. Rather his goal is that every person will be able to vote intelligently and confidently on each ballot proposal.

Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) Half-day Experiential Retreat
To cultivate mindful awareness, self-kindness and self-compassion skills.
Course taught by Susan Knier is a Licensed Occupational Therapist, Education Specialist, & Project Manager.
About the Retreat: This half-day Mindful Self Compassion experiential retreat is part of an empirically-supported 8-week program based on pioneering research by Kristin Neff, Ph.D., University of Texas and the clinical expertise of Chris Germer, Ph.D., Harvard Medical School-Cambridge Health Alliance. Research demonstrates that MSC is strongly associated with emotional well-being and can reduce anxiety, depression, and stress. During this experiential retreat, participants will have an opportunity to experience 3 core MSC meditations, as well as other facilitated informal practices. For most of the morning, participants will practice in silence, to enable a deeper experience. Participants are encouraged to bring supports; a floor mat to lie down upon, a blanket to get cozy, a meditation cushion—anything that would provide more comfort to the individual.
Sat, Nov 19, 9:30am-1:00pm. Registration required. Space limited. $20/M, $25/NM (N/A for 8-week MSC members)
